NEW DELHI: The number of deaths from swine flu this year has risen to 596, with more than 100 casualties reported across the country in three days from February 12, prompting the Centre to order additional drug stocks and diagnostic kits.

While the total number of deaths from swine flu had 485 to February 12, the latest official data released today said more than 100 people have died from H1N1 within three days until February 15, taking the toll 596. in total, 8423 people have contracted swine flu this year in the country.

Maharashtra.
The above are the most affected states with their respective rights up to 176, 144, 76 and 58, official figures said.

"The government has already placed an order for stock enhancement of diagnostic kits - for testing for the H1N1 virus - to provide the laboratory network as part of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Program.

"To improve the level of preparedness, additional stocks of drugs, oseltamivir and 10 000 N-95 masks are also being acquired," said an official statement.
