Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday summoned the Delhi police commissioner after the sixth attack against a Christian building in the capital over the past two months, fueling fears that religious minorities are targeted. The suspects broke into a Christian school in south Delhi on Friday stole money, damaged circuit television cameras and closed parts of the building were ransacked. Police said they suspect the case is one burglary rather than intimidation.

"The prime minister expressed his concern and said that this case should be resolved immediately," said Police Commissioner of Delhi, BS Bassi. "He said that security must be foolproof so that the attacks do not recur."

Political rivals have accused the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party in power to exploit religious divisions since taking power last May. Hundreds of Christians clashed with police last week, demanding better protection from the government.

Religious intolerance in India would have shocked fighter for freedom icon Mahatma Gandhi, US President Barack Obama said last week. The success of India depends on not break along religious lines, Obama said during a visit last month.

Even after a series of attacks, Modi, a Hindu nationalist self-proclaimed, still has to publicly comment on the violence. In a statement released Friday, Modi said he summoned Delhi Police Commissioner to express their concerns about the "rise of crime in the capital." Discussed attacks against churches.

Fire criminals, vandalism and burglaries were reported in at least six Christian buildings since December. The most serious incident was a fire that destroyed a church in the north of Delhi, which church leaders had been voluntarily because of a strong smell of kerosene.
